Holy Comforter is proud to have twenty-four young persons from 5th – 12th grades serving as acolytes for all of the services. They are an important part of the ministry team that enables the people of God to draw closer to Jesus during Divine worship. The Acolytes are committed to prayer, service, and leadership as part of the worship ministry. We are blessed to have them.
Altar Guild members prepare the Church for all services, caring for linen, polishing silver and brass, and ordering supplies. Members serve at services during one week per month and help with preparations for special services at Christmas, Lent, Easter, funerals, and weddings.
A dedicated team drives the church bus every week to pick up parishioners in need of transportation to Sunday worship services and special events.
Children’s programs are available weekly for ages 6 weeks through 5th grade. Our loving nursery workers care for ages 6 weeks-age 3. Sunday School is available for K3-K5 downstairs and Kindergarten through 5th grade upstairs from 10:00-10:45.
During the 11:00 service we offer a Children’s Church program. Children in preschool through 3rd grade are escorted out by youth shepherds and adult volunteers to hear the Gospel reading and lesson in an interactive format. First grade through 3rd grade return to the nave at the Peace, while the younger children return at the start of Communion.
Tori Griffin, Children’s Minister
Music is an integral part of worship at Holy Comforter. We meet every Wed. at 7 PM for practice and then additionally on Sunday AM to prepare for the 11 o’clock service. It is helpful if you can sight read music, but not required.
Kipper Ackerman, Choir Director
If you love flowers, we would love to have your help. Arrangements on the altar for Sunday morning services and other special services come from our own gardens and our own hands.
Lay Eucharistic Ministry (LEM’s)
The LEM’s consist of Lay Readers, Prayer Leaders, and Chalice Bearers. They assist the clergy at all of the services to proclaim God’s word, leading the congregation in prayers, and administering the chalice. This ministry requires clergy endorsement.
Lay Eucharistic Visitors (LEV’s)
LEV’s are trained and equipped to bring Holy Communion to those who are unable to attend the church services. This ministry requires clergy endorsement.
Fr. John Sosnowski
Lectionary Bible Study
This study group focuses on the lessons appropriate to each Sunday; OT, NT, and Gospel. It is Lay led on a rotation schedule and attended by parishioners who often offer valuable insights during the discussion. Join us in the lounge, upstairs in the Parish Life building at 10:00 AM on Sunday mornings.
Prayer Team Ministry
Prayer Team members are available to pray for any need you may have on your heart. Please go to the Chapel or the Calhoun St transept during or after communion at the 11 o’clock service. During the week, you may call for a scheduled time of prayer with our prayer ministers.
Volunteers operate the sound system during worship services and Parish Hall events, streaming services, and other teachings for access by parishioners and the public who are unable to attend.
The Usher ministry is one of hospitality and welcome for all who come to worship at any service. They serve on teams of four and on a rotation.
