On the back of every bulletin, the ministers of Holy Comforter are listed. You may have noticed the first name on that list. It is not the Rector, or Assistant Rector, or any other ordained clergy. Rather, the first and primary ministers of this parish are always listed simply as, “All the people of the Church of the Holy Comforter.”
On these pages you will see just a bit of information about many of our ministries, efforts led and staffed by the people of the Church of the Holy Comforter. These are some of the ways in which our congregation lives out our calling to be about the changeless faith engaging a changing world. They are the real and tangible ways in which we advance the strategic areas of mission, evangelism, and legacy.
We provide this information for two reasons. First, that you can see what ministries are already available. There are many talented, kind, and generous ministers in our midst doing amazing things for God’s Kingdom every single day. Few of them are listed here, but every single area listed represents many saints working hard for God’s church.
Second, this is not only a catalogue, but an invitation. Over the years, I have had people say to me, “I would get involved if someone asked.” Please consider this the ask… How is God leading you to get involved? How has He gifted you to minister to others? What ministry has the Holy Spirit put in your heart that you do not see here? All who are called by Jesus Christ to be His disciples are also called to be his ministers. This ministry list, then, echoes the reminder given to us by St. Peter, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” (1 Peter 4:10)
